In this six-week program, kids will explore self-expression while building self-esteem and leadership skills. We will use various creative mediums including drama, paint, storytelling and more. No artistic experience required. Emphasis will be placed on creating a safe space for all participants to express themselves and to have fun! This could also open up to a longer term project for those who are interested in further developing something, potentially for performance or exhibit.
Class size limited to 10 participants.
Some examples of activites include:
- theatre and movement games
- personal storytelling
- working with paint and clay
- group art projects

I am an expressive arts therapist, registered therapeutic counsellor and arts educator with training from the Vancouver School of Expressive Arts Therapy, as well as Partners for Youth Empowerment’s Art of Facilitation. I’ve been running workshops and programs for youth for over five years, including Follow Your Dreams workshops at the YWCA’s Empower A Girl Conference, songwriting at Range Lake North School, and a community filmmaking project in collaboration with ICHR and K’àlemì Dene School. I believe that young people thrive when given the opportunity to be seen and heard, and in the power of the arts to build community and social change.
