Contact Improvisation is a dance form that involves a sharing of weight and balance between two or more bodies. It is a play of momentum, of listening, and trust that can hold a wide range of expression. Many people come to it both from an artistic /athletic perspective as well as a mindfulness and healing one – or both, as in my case. I’ve invited Anne Cooper here from Vancouver to teach a weekend intensive in this transformative and intimate dance.
This workshop is for all levels, from never having danced contact before to the intermediate / advanced dancer.
Workshop will take place in the Mildred Hall Gym from 10:30am – 4:30pm on Saturday and Sunday, April 14 – 15, 2018. Lunch will be from 12:30pm – 1:30pm, packed lunch recommended.
Saturday evening at 6:30pm there will be also be a film screening of Five Ways In, a documentary about contact improvisation, followed by a discussion (and maybe a jam, who knows?). This will be at my studio, second floor of the Bowling Green Building, 4817 49th Street. This is a totally optional part of the workshop, and family-friendly! Hope to finish early enough that kids can get to bed early or folks can still go out afterwards.
