Hey, you know what’s awesome? When you have a big set to build and you’re not sure where to start and somebody steps up and offers to weld a bunch of scrap metal together to make a bunch of neat looking stuff.
When you’re working on a big project, I’m pretty sure the most important thing you can possibly do is to work with great folks, and Tyler is one of the many people who came through for me big-time. Here he is with our giant welded tree. You can’t tell how huge it is here but we had to use the loading dock to get it in the theatre.
first, a trip to the YK dump salvaging area.
this is kind of a staple activity up here, and we wandered around -30 degree temperatures looking for gold. almost the entire set came from things we found here.
I wish I had more photos of what we gathered, but suffice it to say that the big parts of the set were welded together and we had an archway leading into the auditorium, on to the stage and the giant tree got dressed up and looked a bit like this:
