2015 has been a big year of transition and a whole lot of go go go… and now here we are, almost 2016 already.
I’ve been working a lot on my business behind the scenes and getting ready to launch some new offerings. This summer I went to Asheville, NC to take PYE Global’s Art of Facilitation Training, and found myself deeply transformed and moved by the connection and healing I experienced through that work. I vowed to find ways to bring more ritual, more heart, and more spirit to my projects. And I have also been taking All The Way In, Rhiannon’s most intensive vocal improvisation workshop, and have been surprised as well to find how profoundly my body and spirit responded to having so much devoted time with voices joined in spontaneous song.
As for life on the bay, it continues as usual, except that freeze-up is late this year and I haven’t been home in a couple of weeks, traveling a little, house sitting a little, and now crashing at Tia’s house while I wait for the lake to decide if I can paddle or walk home. A friend of mine texted me this afternoon: “The ice at your place is a jumbled mess of death. I wouldn’t venture out there. Might be paddling tomorrow.” To be paddling mid-November is pretty unusual for these parts, and I try not to get too discouraged about the affect we are having on this planet of ours.
I’ve also been thinking a lot about my place as a settler here in the North, especially as I explore my own spirituality as it pertains to place… no conclusions at the moment, just a lot of thinking and trying be as respectful as I can on this land I live on. I don’t expect to come to any easy answers. Unclear where it is all headed, but feeling the momentum building just the same.
In other news, William Greenland and I have a concert coming up on November 26, and it would be lovely to see you there. That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
